Marcus Wiechmann currently works as a photo editor at the cover department of DER SPIEGEL
news magazine and is responsible for other magazines of the publishing house as well.
He studied photojournalism and documentary photography at Hochschule Hanover, Germany
and spent two semesters abroad as an Erasmus+ scholar at Bilgi University in Istanbul, Turkey.
He also attended an exchange semester at Patshala South Asian Media Institute in Dhaka,
Bangladesh with a DAAD scholarship. In 2018 he completed an internship at the DARST Projects
collective in Scicli, Italy and in 2021-22 he worked as an intern in the photo department of DER
SPIEGEL news magazine in Hamburg, Germany.
Marcus is a visual storyteller who likes to work with different visual approaches and mediums.
His long-term projects focus on social, humanitarian and environmental topics with a special
interest for issues in Europe and the Middle East.
Marcus is always interested to collaborate with writing journalists and is available for
editorial and corporate photo- or videography assignments.
